Origin and Plantation
On the eastern edge of Central America's mighty volcanoes and within the influence of the Atlantic trade winds, coffee cherries ripen at an altitude of 1,200 m over a period of more than ten months in an optimal, cool and humid microclimate.
Character and Taste
The high altitude, climate, and deeply weathered soils give this coffee an incredibly beautiful, full body with very fine acidity, a light fruit note, and hints of chocolate and caramel. The excellent conditions make Lampocoy a top coffee from Guatemala.
Plantation Info
The farmers of the small mountain village of Lampocoy in eastern Nuevo Oriente/Guatemala have been producing excellent coffee for over 100 years. In 2011, German television author Dethlev Cordts discovered this coffee and brought it to Europe for the first time. The organically grown coffee is not sourced through intermediaries but traded directly – allowing farmers to achieve a price significantly above the world market level.
Special Features
Guatemalan coffee is considered one of the highest quality from Central America. The country has above-average potential for exceptionally good coffee – from large farms to tiny micro-farms with a variety of cup characteristics.
