Origin and Plantation

The Dominican Republic was one of the first colonies to receive coffee seeds from Martinique at the beginning of the 18th century. In recent decades, the Republic has been weakened by crises, revolutions, and poverty. It has only been in recent years that the country has found peace and, with it, economic strength again. Besides tourism, coffee export is an enormously important factor for the country. Only a few people know about the good coffee that ripens on many small farms under ideal growing conditions. Our coffee comes from the northwest of the island. Here lies the best cultivation region in the country, the Barahona area. The green coffees are washed, processed, and sun-dried.

Character and Taste

This coffee is often blended with the famous Jamaica Blue Mountain in Japan and has long been an insider tip in the USA, as it promises an ideal harmony of acidity, body, and aroma. Thanks to careful processing, the coffee acquires its unusually intense sweetness. A fine exotic in our assortment that makes you look forward to your next Caribbean vacation.

Special Features

Due to its geographical location, coffee from the Dominican Republic should be among the mild, soft island coffees. However, its taste profile is more similar to the clean, washed coffees from Central America, which are slightly acidic and strong in taste.
