Cachaça Velho Barreiro Gold – aged in wooden barrels

The Velho Barreiro Gold is the aged version of the well-known Brazilian cachaça brand Velho Barreiro, produced by the traditional company Tatuzinho in the state of São Paulo. Aging in wooden barrels gives it its golden color and a smooth, rounded taste.

The aroma reveals notes of vanilla, caramel, and exotic fruits. On the palate, it is smooth, with the pleasant warmth typical of aged cachaça. These aromas are best appreciated when drunk neat – in a caipirinha, the Gold provides more depth than an unaged cachaça.

Usage

Neat: at room temperature or on the rocks.
Caipirinha: cut the lime into eighths, press with cane sugar, fill with crushed ice, and add 5 cl Velho Barreiro Gold. All steps in the Caipirinha recipe.
Cocktails: as a Brazilian alternative to brown rum.
