Our experiences with Expedia for city trips

AICollage mit Städtereisezielen wie Santorini und Barcelona

We now often book city trips via Expedia.de – not necessarily because there are always spectacular discounts, but because the combination of price, clarity, and easy booking has usually worked well for us.

Especially for cities or islands where the location of the accommodation is extremely important, we found the search and the package deals practical.

Santorini – Boutique hotel directly on the caldera

On Santorini, we booked a small boutique hotel directly on the caldera. That was ultimately the deciding factor of this trip: the view over the white houses and the sea in the morning, the sunsets directly from the terrace in the evening.

Especially on Santorini, the location makes a huge difference. Via Expedia, we were able to compare various small hotels well. We booked the flight and accommodation directly together.

Barcelona – Centrally located at Plaça de Catalunya

In Barcelona, a central location was our main priority. Our hotel was located right at Plaça de Catalunya – actually perfect for a city trip.

From there, you can get everywhere quickly: to the Rambla, the Gothic Quarter, the harbor, or the sights of Antoni Gaudí. The hop-on-hop-off buses also start there, which was really practical for a long weekend.

Dublin – Staying centrally pays off

In Dublin, too, we would book very centrally again at any time. We stayed at the Riu Plaza The Gresham Dublin right on O’Connell Street.

We were able to reach many sights, pubs, and restaurants easily on foot. Especially in Dublin, we found that much more relaxed than being on the road by bus or taxi every day.

Why we often book via Expedia

What we like about Expedia.de: You can combine various travel components relatively easily – such as flights, hotels, rental cars, or activities.

The package prices were repeatedly cheaper for us than booking everything separately. On top of that: If there are ever any problems with a flight or hotel, it is convenient not to have everything organized through different providers.

Of course, we still always compare with other offers. But for city trips, Expedia has often been the simplest and overall best solution for us so far.
