Cachaça Sanhacu Umburana – aged in Umburana wood
The Cachaça Sanhacu Umburana comes from the Brazilian brand Sanhacu and is aged in barrels made of Umburana wood (also known as Amburana). Umburana is one of the best-known Brazilian woods for aging cachaça and significantly shapes its flavor.
According to the manufacturer, the wood gives the cachaça characteristic aromas of cinnamon, spices, and tropical fruits. Umburana is also typically characterized by a warm, slightly sweet note – completely different from the oak wood you know from whisky or rum.
Brazilian woods instead of oak
Many cachaças are aged in barrels made of native Brazilian woods. For comparison: Another variety from Sanhacu is aged in Ipê-Amarelo wood. The Delicana Umburana and the Germana Caetano also come from Umburana barrels.
Serving
Best enjoyed neat at room temperature or with an ice cube, so that the woody aromas can unfold. In a caipirinha, it provides a spicy note.
